Welcome to RedStarAcres.com the official website of Red Star Acres, a 35-acre (mini) ranch located in Calhan, CO, 30 miles east of Colorado Springs on the high plains at an elevation of 6,600 feet.

Here, we your hosts, Marcia and Dwight Andersen, have built our "place in the sun." First and foremost, Red Star Acres is where we live--it is our home. It is a labor of love to our family and friends, our expression of who we are; a place to come, relax, put your feet up and enjoy. In a world of fast-paced lifestyles, we have chosen one a little slower paced. Red Star Acres is a working mini-ranch with Fullblood Accoyo Suri Alpacas, Miniature Silky Fainting Goats, dogs, chickens, and more. We've chosen this lifestyle for many reasons, specific and personal to us, but we hope to share this lifestyle with others as well. Maybe you too will see the virtues of something almost forgotten or unknown to many. A lifestyle where you can work the day (hard work) and then rest peacefully at night knowing you've done something to better this world, even if only in some small part. The animals of Red Star Acres depend on us and we them. It is a mutual relationship of respect. As such we care for each of them humanely with great love.

What you'll see on this website is a window in to our lives. Some of which is personal, some business. (Gotta pay the bills). Regardless, it is all a part of who we are. We hope no matter what brought you here, you enjoy what we have--we do!
